THE HEARTWOOD
Live-Edge Black Walnut · Face Grain · Solid Brass Handles & Feet
$280
The Heartwood is built around a remarkable single slab of Black Walnut. A broad ribbon of deep heartwood runs through the centre, framed by naturally lighter edges that preserve the original character of the tree. Solid brass handles and matching brass feet elevate the piece both literally and visually, transforming it into a tabletop centrepiece.

THE STORY
The Heartwood begins with an extraordinary single slab of Black Walnut. A broad expanse of deep, chocolate heartwood runs through its centre while lighter sapwood follows the live edges, preserving the natural transition between the interior and exterior of the tree.
Rather than asking the slab to conform to a conventional shape, the design celebrates its scale and original contours. Solid brass handles and matching brass feet introduce a restrained architectural element, lifting the walnut from the table and creating a warm metallic counterpoint to the depth of the wood.
The Heartwood sits at the intersection of functional object and sculpture. Designed for generous gatherings and memorable occasions, it is a singular piece that cannot be precisely recreated. Its purpose is not merely to serve food, but to become part of the setting in which traditions are formed.
