THE LOOM

Cherry · Hard Maple

$210 (SOLD)

The Loom brings Cherry and Hard Maple together in an interlocking end-grain pattern inspired by the rhythm of woven material. Warm reddish tones move between lighter Maple blocks, creating a board that feels intricate without becoming ornamental. Built for everyday cutting, its pattern will continue to evolve as the Cherry deepens in colour over time.

THE STORY

The Loom is defined by the relationship between Cherry and Hard Maple, two hardwoods whose contrasting tones bring structure and movement to its woven pattern. Warm Cherry moves between the lighter Maple blocks, while the exposed end grain reveals subtle variations in growth and character across the surface. The result is a composition that feels ordered from a distance and increasingly intricate upon closer inspection.

Designed with generous proportions and a substantial working surface, The Loom was conceived as an everyday cutting board for the active kitchen. Its end-grain construction provides a resilient, knife-friendly surface suited to frequent meal preparation, while its 16½" × 9¾" × 1⅛" profile offers ample working space without becoming cumbersome. As the board ages, the Cherry will naturally deepen in colour, allowing the contrast and character of the pattern to continue evolving.

Ultimately, The Loom is an exploration of rhythm and repetition. Individual pieces come together much like threads in woven material, creating something more expressive than any one piece could achieve alone. Built to work, age and develop character through use, it is a functional kitchen heirloom designed to become more personal with time.
