THE STORY
The Mosaic celebrates the individual character of Black Walnut, Ambrosia Maple and Purpleheart by bringing three dramatically different hardwoods into a single composition. Creamy Maple and its naturally occurring markings sit alongside the deep warmth of Walnut and the unmistakable colour of Purpleheart, creating a surface that continually changes as the eye moves across it. The geometry provides structure, but the grain, figure and natural variation ensure that no two sections—and no two boards—could ever be exactly alike.
With generous 18⅜" × 9" × 1" proportions, The Mosaic was designed first as a functional everyday cutting board. Its edge-grain construction provides a durable working surface while keeping the board practical to lift, clean and use regularly. The repeating arrangement creates visual complexity without compromising the simple purpose at the heart of the piece: to provide a dependable surface for the everyday work of the kitchen.
Ultimately, The Mosaic exists at the intersection of pattern and natural variation. Each individual piece contributes its own colour and grain to a larger composition, creating a board whose character only becomes richer when viewed closely.
